Jesus ministered to the crowds, he preached to the masses. But he built something very special with his friends. The disciples weren’t just a random bunch of guys he had to take. They were chosen to be close to him and therefore close to one another. Jesus spent time with his friends, building relationships that were strong enough to be corrected, challenged, and change even in each other’s company. They were friendships that were real, honest and not always easy to be in. But they were building something that was not usual, they were destined together to do something incredible that would change the world. Friendships like that are worth fighting for and worth protecting. We are reminded time and time throughout scripture that we are not supposed to do this journey alone. Alone is dangerous and leaves you vulnerable. Alone means you can become an island to others and only think your way is the right way. Jesus kept his friends close. Today I am praying you would join me and commit to be a better friend. We can all improve in our relationships, we can forgive quicker, say sorry, laugh more, encourage more, receive the correction, and build deeper. Friendships are not hard to find but great friendships will cost you to build. The world is longing for meaningful relationships, so as the church lets do friendship well. You can’t be friends with everybody but you can like Jesus chose to build well with somebody. I am praying you too would know the joy in increasing measure of building friendships that you can change the world with too!!
