Nothing thrilled my heart more than seeing Pax (my buddy’s @JenDerweerdt boy) start to take some steps this last week. Let this picture encourage you today. Pax fights every day for things most children his age just take for granted. He has to push through much resistance to just speak or try to walk. He has to accept the help of this frame to hold him as he steps out. I think of Pax often and how much he teaches my heart. Have you ever felt you were the only one not progressing, felt inferior as others run and you can barely walk. Felt your words were weak compared to the wealth of wisdom from others. Sometimes we can feel like ‘why even try’. But Pax is trying and every day he gets stronger. He has people around him cheering and pushing him on. He accepts the aid of a walker instead of rejecting it as embarrassing and every day he takes huge steps that most won’t even recognise. ‘Why bother’ you may say. Well this is why, because Pax’s steps bring joy to many, they liberate him to a new level of living, they help him stand stronger and eventually the frame will be gone and the stories will be told of how against the odds he thrived. People need that story and you can write it. So just as I did with Pax on this day know I am cheering you on today. Get up, stand up, speak out and make your next step!! And for those who feel no need for the walker and you are able to step out in confidence, remember your strength is for service and look for maybe a Pax in your world today someone you can be the support frame too. Don’t take your strength for granted, don’t rush past those less able. The joy is not in crossing the finish line each day alone but in achieving great things together! Go Pax GO!!
