HONESTY MAY BE COSTLY BUT DISHONESTY IS DEADLY
I have always struggled with the statement ‘fake it til you make it’. Surely we don’t need any more fake in our lives. The enemy loves it when we pretend to be something we are not. He will take your fake forgiveness, fake freedom any day. He knows while you live with fake you will never attain real.
At Cherish conf this year I preached a message called ‘the great pretender!’ We have all done it, been it. We all have areas where we have perfected an act instead of deciding to get honest. Honesty is hard and exposes, where fake never faces facts and happily poses. But without honesty we have no healing.
Today could you just be a little more honest in one area where fake has built a facade. Could you let someone in, drop the act. Are you honestly OK? Are you honestly forgiving, living, speaking, coping? Be honest with yourself and allow God’s word to begin to shine light where the dishonesty has cast shadows. His word is truth and his word is freedom. God’s not shocked when we are honest, He already knows. Stop acting and instead use your energy to start changing.
Honesty is costly but I have found that dishonesty is deadly. Don’t allow something to die because of a lie. Let’s take a step off the stage we so often build ourselves and lay down the script we hide behind. Come before the one who covers us with his love and let him place new words in our mouth. Words that speak of the facts and then face them with faith not fake.
