Beauty in Every Season

Finding Beauty in Every Season Charlotte Gambill

There’s a scripture in Ecclesiastes 3 which tells us that ‘everything is beautiful in its time.’  Really? Everything? We have all been through times that we have not seen any beauty in, and yet this verse lists not just good things but also the hardest of things and still says beauty can be found there… so maybe we need to look again at how we view our lives.

So often we see our days through the sands of time, like an hourglass. We think each day is like more passing grains that are lost to us. We sense we have missed out somehow, that our time is short or that our time has been wasted. However, our world is not dictated by the shifting sands of time, but by the One who holds our times in His hands.

If Jesus could enter Earth’s time and space and yet never be rushed or stressed by time, not even start His ministry until age 30 and be finished with it by age 33, then maybe He is trying to teach us that our time is not to be dictated by a clock, but it is already predestined by the One who is outside of time.

Moses prayed in Psalm 90:12 ‘Teach us how to number our days aright’  which tells me that we can count our days incorrectly. We can think our time is gone, when maybe it’s just begun.

This month, I pray that you would not count minutes but instead capture moments. I pray you wouldn’t waste days worrying when you can spend your days finding beauty. If it’s time to let something go, know that there's beauty in it. If it’s time to speak up, beauty can echo in your words. Over the next few weeks maybe you can take the time to look at the season you're in.  Ask yourself, what time is it for me? Maybe it’s a time for uprooting, planting, speaking up or letting go.

As you identify your season I pray you would begin to see how God wants to mark that time with beauty. In the release, you find increase. In the courage, is your next level of confidence. In the pain, is the promise of a greater purpose. This month, take time to see time God’s way and trust that whatever the season, beauty can be found within it.

I pray that you will start to see your time from God’s eternal perspective instead of our human temporal mindset. As we do life His way, I pray that we stop stressing and striving because we trust God's timing.

Let’s keep reminding our hearts of God's faithfulness and providence, let’s commit to the adventure that awaits in a life that isn’t governed by a clock, but instead surrounded by His voice.

I know my God will never leave you in any season, and has gone before you in every moment.  Our lives can’t help but be marked by Him and for Him, and any mark He leaves on our life is beautiful.
